内容提要：Studying the World’s Most Watched and Denigrated Content: Latin American Telenovelas and Turkish Dramas
主讲人简介：
Carolina Acosta-Alzuru (Ph.D., University of Georgia) is Professor in the College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia (USA). Her scholarship focuses on the links between media, culture and society, and bridges the disciplines of cultural studies and international media studies as she examines media texts, their production, distribution and reception. She is the author of four books and multiple academic articles about telenovelas, a genre she has been studying since 1999. Her research and teaching has earned her many awards, including the University of Georgia’s highest teaching honor—the Josiah Meigs Distinguished Professorship—and the 2015 Scripps Howard Foundation Journalism and Mass Communication Teacher of the Year for the United States. She is also the recipient of the 2022 John Holliman Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award. In the last six years, her research has taken her repeatedly to Istanbul as she examines the tensions between the domestic and global markets for Turkish dramas.
